Message from the Directors

It’s great to see that Spring has finally sprung, which is a great time year when we think of new beginnings, as we see the spring lambs in our fields and York fills with daffodils surrounding the City and of course tourism increases across the City region.

This new beginning is a great time for review and reflection and a time to consider what next in our lives.  The Government has recently demonstrated its commitment to reengage those over 50 to consider going back in to the workplace.  JCP have affirmed this by increasing their support to this niche group of individuals and of course, Experience Counts continues to provide specialist programmes of discovery and support to those who would benefit from the time and space to explore their current skills and talents to provide the best offer to prospective employers.

Experience Counts programmes over the coming months are available to all those who would really benefit from exploring their current position to support decision making for the next stage of their life.  We ensure that all come out with a fresh CV and also the knowledge and skill to preform at interviews and assessments.

We would welcome enquiries from partners who have clients who would benefit from the learning and experiences provided through our six week programmes.

If you would like to discuss anything please reach out to us at just_ask@experiencecountsyork.org.uk

Future Programmes

We continue to have deliver the unmet demand; and will continue to seek further funding to deliver further programmes in 2023/24, however we are pleased that we currently have funding (through City of York Council and  Joseph Rowntree Foundation) to deliver the following in 2023.

Bookings are open on our website at www.experiencecountsyork.org.uk/book-a-place/

Just a few stats for you

We have now delivered nearly 40 programmes over the past 6 years engaging with just short of 300 individuals who are 50 plus and come from a diverse range of backgrounds and often chaotic lives.   We have met the challenges and have supported 137 into employment, 63 into volunteering, 19 in to self-employment and 25 into further training.  This is a a positive outcome rate of 82%.  All other individuals remain engaged with Experience Counts and are working with us or other agencies to rebuild their confidence in the knowledge they have the skills and talents to take the next step.
